Hi,

When I had Windows 8, I had to bring my laptop into the shop for some repairs. They installed Classic Shell for me, and it was very nice, since the Windows 8 UI is awful. When I upgraded to Windows 10, however, I got this notification: "This App Is No Longer Available. Classic Shell was removed from your PC because it doesn't work with this version of Windows." That makes sense since it was meant for windows 8. I went into my Control Panel and used the "Uninstall a Program" tool to uninstall Classic Shell. However, despite uninstalling it, that notification continued to pop up EVERY SINGLE TIME I signed onto my computer, and it's really annoying. I tried using the Classic Shell Utility to remove it, which was suggested if the normal uninstallation method doesn't work, but even after using that I still keep get the notification! Can someone please help? I just want this thing off of my computer completely and the notifications to stop.

I think the Windows Program Compatibility Assistant pops up these notifications. The Classic Shell Utility does a thorough job of completely cleaning up Classic Shell from a PC. After running it, there should be no files or components left behind.

If you think Classic Shell is no longer present on your computer and yet you are getting notifications, try installing the latest version which *is* compatible with Windows 10, and then remove it.

Another thing you can try: go to Windows Administrative Tools -> Services. Try setting "Program Compatibility Assistant Service" to disabled and reboot. Maybe the annoying notifications will stop.

The first option did not work, but the second one did. Thanks ^_^
