Classic Shell: Forum

I've read a handful of threads where this error message has popped up, but I've yet to find a solution for my problem. This error comes up after I enter my pin or my password. I am running Windows 8.1 and assume I have either a corrupted app or a 32 bit version of something running but I can't get into my computer to even begin to weed that problem out. I get this error message, and then a pop up that some random exe file won't work, and then a blank screen. Of course you can't access Safe Mode because it's Windows 8.

This is a work computer with a lot of really expensive licensed software and I haven't updated the latest payroll and QuickBooks info yet.
So if there's ANY solution short of wiping it all and reinstalling the OS, please PLEASE let me know.

This error was usually reported with the installer. Either it was a bad download, or people were running it on windows rt. Your case appears to be something different.

If you think Classic Shell is the problem, simply uninstall it. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to bring up task manager, then go to File -> Run and run the installer. Then choose "Remove".
