The first thing I did with the new Compaq CQ58 laptop. 64 bit win 8 computer was install Classic Shell. I could not function without it. Windows update told me. I had 83 + 2 updates waiting. Classic shell worked fine before the updates. The right click performed just like win 7. I was able to do things like change the folder icon etc.

After the update the right click, gives me the circle thing for a long time, then takes me to a blank windows 8 screen, then back to the desktop where it moves all the icons around. Has anyone had this problem?

I have a restore point, but I will lose the security updates if I do that. I can not use windows 8 unless it acts like windows 7.

There is no version name or number.... it just says windows 8. Its a laptop.

This sounds like some context menu extension is causing a crash. It is best to capture a crash dump and attach it here.
Click on "How to capture crash dumps" at the top and follow the instructions.
