Classic Shell allows for a 1 column or 2 column layout. The first is pinned apps/folders and recent apps/folders; The second is fully customizable.
It would be extremely useful to have more fully customizable columns.
It seems possible code-wise (says the amateur coder).
thanks, steve

Both columns are customizable but that's a nice suggestion to be considered for future versions (although no promises). 3 or n-columns will make it more flexible without the added complexity of submenus.

I am a Windows enthusiast and helped a little with Classic Shell's testing and usability/UX feedback.

Thanks again GauravK. I'll be looking out for it.
I'm an efficiency freak and this would certainly allow quicker organized access to content.
I would love to have:
apps | projects | data1 | data2 | control | comms
and my little world would be a happier place!
ps. should i call this 'solved'?
