There seems to have been a change to the way the shutdown menu functions in Classic Shell 4.3.0. For over a decade now, I've been shutting down by hitting Ctrl-Esc-U (same as Windows Key-U, I believe) which expanded the shut down menu, where I could then hit U, R or H depending on which shut down method I wanted.

Up to 4.2.5. this worked properly. Now, in 4.3.0, when I do Ctrl-Esc-U, instead of expanding the shutdown menu, it instead immediately brings up the shutdown box. Unfortunately, this doesn't work for me because the shutdown box does not include the hibernation function, which I use most of the time (the shutdown box also requires an extra key stroke regardless). So, now instead of hitting Ctrl-Esc-U-H, I have to manually click to get the shutdown menu to open.

Is there any way to change the functionality back to the way it was in the previous version? I tried to use the menu editor, but although I could stop the shutdown box from coming up when I hit U, I couldn't figure out how to make the program expand the menu.

Also, I have to ask, was this an intentional change? It seems to me that the previous functionality was the correct one, based on how things worked in WinXP, and I thought the whole point of Classic Shell was to maintain the original experience?

Version 4.3.0 changed the behavior so if a split button has a key, the main button will be opened instead of the sub-menu. This seems to make more sense.
If you are using Windows 7 style, you can press Win-right-right-R.
If you are using the Classic style, you can edit the Shutdown item to not have a command, which will make it a plain sub-menu.

Thanks, changing it so it wasn't a split button fixed it. I never use the shutdown box anyway, so no big loss. 8-)
