I've read the FAQ and done everything suggested there but Classic Shell refuses to go away. It will not uninstall without the file "ClassicShellSetup64_3_6_4.msi." I have tried to reinstall the same version as suggested but it will not install because I don't have "ClassicShellSetup64_3_6_4.msi." I tried to install the latest version but it also will not install because I don't have "ClassicShellSetup64_3_6_4.msi." In short, this program can no longer be installed or uninstalled until I get "ClassicShellSetup64_3_6_4.msi." I have done a Google search and found nowhere to download this file. Does anyone know how I can obtain this file?

Alternatively does anyone know any other method to get this off of my computer? I don't care whose fault it is or why this happened, I just want some step by step procedures to remove this program. Thank you.

Most likely you or some overly-aggressive cleanup program has deleted the MSI from the system.

Download the installer for version 3.6.4 from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/classic ... 20release/
Then run it and select "Remove".

If that doesn't work, try following the instructions here: http://www.classicshell.net/faq/#install_repair

If even that doesn't work, you can extract the MSI file from the installer using the "extract64" parameter, as described here: http://www.classicshell.net/faq/#install_commands

I updated my computer to windows 10 and found it terrible so I uninstalled windows 10.
After this Classic Shell was not working and the screen/homepage is windows 8 (what my computer is, but I want classic start menu)
So I tried uninstalling Classic Shell hoping to reinstall the new version. now when I go to the control panel and try to uninstall this error comes up and wont let me. Any help is appreciated!

The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "ClassicShellSetup64_4_1_0.msi" in the box below.

@kat2016, try using the Classic Shell Utility to remove it: http://www.mediafire.com/download/3uker ... tility.exe and then download the latest installer from www.classicshell.net/downloads/latest

Hi Gaurav, thanks so much for your help. I downloaded http://www.mediafire.com/download/3uker ... tility.exe and it came up with another error message saying. Windows cannot access the specific device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. and also my Norton pop up, comes up with ClassicShellUtility.exe is not safe and has been removed.
I really have no idea what to do or what I have done!

Disable Norton temporarily or whitelist it and then run the utility to remove Classic Shell. Then install the latest version from the homepage.
