Hey, I've been having a black screen problem with my computer for quite a while, and thought I would try uninstalling windows classic she'll to see if it might be the problem. I went to control panel, uninstall programs, and uninstalled classic shell. After restarting my computer, and logging in, it went to a black screen. I tried restarting 4 more times but each time it just went to a black screen after I logged in. Help anyone? (BTW I'm using windows 10)

It is not related to Classic Shell. Try these steps: http://winaero.com/blog/fix-the-black-s ... indows-10/

Classic Shell does not even load until after you have logged in and is like a regular program. It cannot affect things like your display or logon.

How can I do this if I cannot even log in to my computer?

The article explains how (by starting in Safe Mode) or by using System Restore. Anyway, you can be 100% sure this isn't related to Classic Shell. It's a fairly common Windows 10 bug.

Okay so after trying every single thing here the problem persisted. I then tried re-instaklling classic shell and it said the older version of classic shell cannot be removed, contact technical support. I believe that when I uninstalled some files from classic shell were left behind. Is there anything I can do about this so that I can re-download classic shell??

You can try running the Classic Shell Utility from here: http://www.classicshell.net/downloads/
Chose the second option to remove the installation. Reboot when prompted.
See if you can do a clean install afterwards.

YES! this worked! I just ran the uninstall utility from that link. Thank you so much!
