Good afternoon,

I am running the latest update 4.2.4 of classic shell on a windows 8 (not 8.1) Toshiba Laptop. Everything worked fine for years now, but since the last update classic shell is extremly laggy, showing the metro screen for about 30 seconds and then switching to the desktop. I tried a lot - repair the program with the installer, checked all startup entries, removed the restoreconnetion within the registry... Nothing helps!

Any good ideas really appreciated!

Thx, Markus

Can you get to the desktop by pressing Win+D immediately? And if so, do you see a start button on the taskbar?

Hi Ivo,

thanks for your fast answer. During the metro screen I can´t press Win+D - no reaction; the metro screen is active, I can eg. deinstall apps or something like that, but I can´t change to the desktop, even not with clicking on the desktop tile.

Regards, Markus

Hm, I don't know then. Doesn't seem related to Classic Shell. You can temporarily uninstall it just to confirm that theory.

It was a bad co-incidence with the last update; the error was a blocking network adapter - turns out yesterday evening!

Thanks and pls close, delete or set solved!

Markus
