Running windows 10. Classic shell 4.2.4

When I boot windows, the boot process hangs without completing. I get the blue circle just going around. If I hit the mouse on the menu bar,
then the desktop, then back to the menu bar, and desktop, it seems to shut down the explorer windows, goes black, and starts up again. But
then it completely loads correctly with all the items in the menu bar, memory, etc. and works fine. This happens all the time.

Any thoughts?

What you are describing looks like a crash or a freeze. Use the link at the top of this page to capture dumps and post them here.

I can't even get 4.2.4 to install on Windows 10 which I just upgraded today. It keeps saying "Failure to extract setup file. Classic Shell Setup 64 4.2.4.msi". I read on another website than Microsoft is blocking Classic Shell setup and to rename the exe file which I did but I still get this same error message. HELP! If I can't get Classic Shell to work on Windows 10, I'm reverting back to 8.1.

NEVER MIND! I right clicked and ran as administrator and it worked perfectly! :oops:

This error will show up if the folder C:\ProgramData is inaccessible for some reason. Try creating a new text file in that folder and see if you get any errors.
If you can't get that to work, then you can also manually extract the MSI from the installer using the command "ClassicShellSetup_4_2_4.exe extract64" and then double-click the created MSI file.

The block was specific to version 4.1.0. Only for that version renaming the exe would help.
