I am getting ready to roll out Windows 8.1, and would never consider doing so without classic shell, so thanks for the cool app!

Now on to the problem:
I am having a weird problem which may be a simple permissions issue. Frequently used applications do not show up in the start menu for our standard users. Administratively run apps (anything that is run as an administrator) or any application that is run while I am logged in as an administrator do get pinned to the start menu according to use. What do I need to do to get this to work for our standard user accounts in our domain? Thanks in advance,

Programs that are pinned to the taskbar don't show up in the start menu. Can that explain what you are seeing?

woah, thanks for the quick reply.

No, the startmenu is utterly empty. Only when I run an application (in this case cmd.exe) as an administrator will it get pinned under a sstandard user's profile.

Read Below, excuse my noobery.

I take that back. You hit it on the nail. That's exactly the behavior I am seeing. I didn't notice that taskbar pinned items cannot also be simultaneously pinned to the start menu. Is there a way to allow a user to pin an item to both places? Thanks again.

You can pin whatever you want to the start menu. Right click on the program's shortcut and select "Pin to start menu (Classic Shell)". You can also directly drag it into the start menu.

Just the list of frequently used programs ignores the programs already pinned to the taskbar. This is to match the behavior of the Windows 7 start menu.
