Hello,
I have selected every option to open Classic start instead of everything,

yet when I am in a Metro app if I click on the Start button, it takes me back to the Metro Start screen rather than desktop.

(pushing Windows key takes me to desktop but clicking on Windows Button doesn't)

how can I get this to work?

thanks.

What version of Windows do you have?
How are you getting to the start button while the app is open?

Windows 8.1,
Disable Active Corners -> Start Screen -> is on,

but in a metro app, if I move the mouse to the start button position and click on it, it always goes back to metro screen, no exception.

What you see when you mouse over the corner while an app is opened is not the start button. It is the same charm as the one in the center of the charms bar. It always opens the start screen and Classic Shell has no control over that.

If you move the mouse to the bottom edge of the screen (or press Win+T) you will see the taskbar and the real start button. Clicking it will go to the desktop.

isn't it possible to disable / replace that with classic shell start button (only the one at the left side down)?
I see this being done in another app, but I like classic shell.
if this can be done my wish is complete.

It is not something I plan to do, no.
I prefer to leave the Metro behavior alone as much as possible.

ok, I understand, then it's not for me,
I just wanted to minimize Metro Start encounters while taking advantage of some Moderm Apps (eg Calendar, Maps, Music, Skype, etc..).
other app options are available which do this.
