Classic Shell: Forum

Hi there, hoping someone can help out.

I have just done a fresh install of windows 8.1 pro, and classic shell but encountering a problem with no solution found so far.. I apoligise if this is double up but I couldn't find a similar issue on the forum.


When I right click on the desktop background to bring up the context menu, the loading circle comes up but it hangs for about 5 seconds every time. There is no delay in the explorer or start menu, only on the desktop itself. I have looked around at the settings but cannot find anything to adjust to possibly fix this.

I have the exact same setup on my laptop, but the laptop does NOT have this issue, so it does seem to be localised.

You can use the instructions here: http://www.classicshell.net/forum/viewt ... p?f=12&t=6 to capture a series of dumps while the slowness occurs. I can take a look and see of something appears wrong.

Ivo, I was just trying to upload.. I have compressed into zip (default windows 8 compressed file) but the forum will not allow me to upload it.. file size is 6.2 MB and the forum has a 5Mb limit.
Any suggestions?

Name the file something meaningful because there is no way for me to know who dropped what file.

Ok sorry for the trouble Ivo, it seems that I've found the problem.
The fresh install of windows was a bit too fresh. the issue seems to be with the standard windows 8 display driver as unlike windows 7 there is no default NVidia driver that gets installed.
I just installed the latest GeForce driver and that seems to have resolved the issue, in case anyone else finds a similar problem...
