I just upgraded to Win8.1 on one machine, and was shocked to find that Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom(?) has placed a Start button on every monitor in a multi-screen setup. This appears if you have the taskbar spanned across all monitors.

Is there any way, using Classic Shell, to disable the Start button on all but the main monitor? If not, can this be added as an option?

This is an option in DisplayFusion, but not in the free version.

Thanks, and keep up the GREAT work!

Wayne

So on the second monitor you want to have a taskbar, but you don't want to see a button? What do you expect to happen if you click in that corner?

I don't expect anything to happen if I click in that corner. I have hot-corners disabled.

I just want to see the icons of the programs running on the second screen on the taskbar. That works now, I just don't want to have multiple start buttons.

This wasn't an issue until I upgraded from Win8 to 8.1. I want to replicate the experience of Classic Shell exactly as it performed under Windows 8.

Thanks!

BUMP...

Wanted to check in and see if any consideration has been given to this request. It is an option in both DisplayFusion and Start8, so it obviously can be done.

I've tried both of the other mentioned programs. While I'm not against paying for a product I'd use, Start8 doesn't give me enough options, and DisplayFusion gives me *WAY* too many options. ClassicShell has just the right mix of options, it's just missing the option to disable the Start button on secondary taskbars.

This is the one niggling concern I still have about moving to 8.1.

Thanks! And keep up the good work!
