Re: Classic Shell 4.0.2
Windows 7 x64

On the PC in question the Taskbar is vertically arrayed Left, set to Autohide, and 4-icons wide [large icons]. The system shows the oft remarked instability in Windows 7 that the Taskbar frequently, unpredictably contracts to 1-icon width.

[Windows 8 / 8.1 absent 'Aero' does not exhibit this defect.]

Scouring various forums that Google Search displays as hits on this problem, I encountered one that claimed the installation of the Classic Menu component of Classic Shell resolves this instability.

Can any users here confirm this?

Advice about any other fix would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance ~ Hans-Peter

It is unlikely that Classic Shell will solve the instability you are seeing. It does not intentionally fix any known issues with the taskbar.
