Hey guys, just wondering if anyone knows how to fix this problem, I've always been able to right click on the icons in the start menu, but today i realized that i couldn't do that anymore and i looked into it, and for some reason this option isn't clickable anymore, does anyone know what the solution to allow me to click this option again?

Check if that PC has a Group Policy setting configured "Enable right click menu". Set it to Not configured. Or check if a Registry DWORD value called EnableContextMenu is at the Registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IvoSoft\ClassicStartMenu. Delete the DWORD value or set it to 1 to enable it. Then log out of your user account and log in again. |

i dont know where to look for that group policy, and there is no folder called classicstartmenu, only classicshell, and that folder doesnt have any DWORD called enablecontextmenu, and i want to be able to right click again, not disable it, dont know if i clarified that in my original message. |

Download the Classic Shell Utility from this page: http://www.classicshell.net/downloads/ Run it, save a system log and send it to me. |

The group policy "Remove drag-and-drop and context menus on the Start Menu" is enabled for you. You can find it in Administrative Templates -> Start Menu and Taskbar folder (in the gpedit.msc tool). Possibly you administrator has turned it on. |

as you can see in the picture provided i went through all the policies in the start menu and taskbar folder and there is no group policy called Remove drag-and-drop and context menus on the Start Menu, so maybe it could be invisible? i have no idea what to do.

First, sort them alphabetically to make sure you are not missing something. Second, there are similar policies in the Computer Configuration section at the top. Possibly the policy is set for the computer, not for the user. |

Maybe this was in-place upgrade from an earlier versions of Windows, which had that setting? And now it is stuck in the "enabled" state with no way to reset it. |

yea thats probably it, like it was working fine about a week ago, then i installed this new game called black desert online and for some reason it automatically placed itself into the start menu list where i have all my other games on, so maybe it has to do with the game? idk how but thats when i couldn't right click anymore... |

It is unlikely that a game will cause a change in a policy. It serves no practical purpose. Is your computer part of a domain? Maybe your domain administrator has added such policy for all computers. Look at the following registry keys: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer Check if there is a value named NoChangeStartMenu. If there is, try deleting it. |
