Hello, all,

The classic shell start button on the bottom left of my screen is gone.

How can I get it back?

Thanks for any help.

Which version are you using? Try upgrading to the latest version, 4.0.4. It has fixes to the menu starting reliably.

I have the same problem. It was there a few minutes ago, then I upgraded to the newest version, and it's gone. What do I do now?

Download the Classic Shell Utility from here: http://www.classicshell.net/downloads/
Run it and send me the log file.

It's early, I'm not fully conscious, so I hope I didn't mess this up...

What exactly is the problem? That the start menu is not running? Have you tried restarting?
Also see if manually running ClassicStartMenu.exe will show the start button.

@fishsticks, see if C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\ClassicStartMenu.exe is set to run as administrator accidentally from its Properties -> Compatibility tab and uncheck it if it is. That can be the only reason why it isn't loading at startup.

Well, that's interesting... I went to check, and it wasn't set to run as administrator -- but once I saw that, I looked down, and the start menu was back (which I swear it wasn't when I started). I don't care; it's fixed, and I can go back to pretending that I don't have Windows 8, so I'm happy! Thanks!
