Just created a new Server 2012 Remote Desktop environment using Classic Start Menu. If programs are launched from the start menu, they show up in the recently used programs pane. However, programs not launched through the start menu don't show up. Is there a change I can make to show all recently used programs in the recently used pane?

Open Classic Start Menu Settings. In the search box at the top of the Settings dialog, type: frequent and choose the "Frequent programs" option. This is tracked by Windows and stored in the Registry. It tracks programs launched from anywhere which are most-used. Classic Start Menu then decodes this data and shows it.

The other option "Recent programs" tracks only programs launched through the Classic Start Menu. It shows them in the most-recent order.
