Windows 10 Build 14257.rs1 160131-1800

This is hard to describe so I attached a screen shot.

It appears as if the menu is starting well below the taskbar. I have uninstalled and reinstalled with no change

I believe it happened when Windows 10 updated this week.

John

How are you opening the menu? With the mouse or the keyboard?
Was the Windows menu opened at the time?
Do you have the taskbar as auto-hide?

Mouse, and it worked fine until the latest Windows Update
I don't understand Question 2 (are you referring to the standard 10 start menu) if yes than no it wasn't/isn't open
No taskbar is not autohidden

I can make it correct if I change the Display settings back to 100% instead of the 125% I was previously using. But I have been using the +125

Export your settings XML using the Backup button and attach it here.

Same problem here. This started promptly after upgrading to Windows10 insider build 14267.rs1_release.160213-0213 and the build preceding it. This appears to be related to the Windows DPI settings as the OP suggested.

I can not replicate this when using an external monitor with DPI set to 100%. I can consistently replicate this on my laptop display when the DPI is set to 125%. The start menu appears to be "positioned" below the task bar, so you can never click on the clam shell icon. If you invoke the start menu using the windows hot key, you'll see only the top half of the start menu. This renders it useless for most tasks. Changing windows display settings to 100% DPI seems to fix it.

Here's something interesting. I can semi-replicate this when using dual monitors in extend mode, even at 100% DPI on the laptop monitor. The clam shell and menu works perfect on my primary display (external monitor). On the extended screen (the laptop screen), the clam shell icon in the lower left corner will eventually "chop up" then fully disappear after 2-3 clicks on it. The first time I click on it, 25% of the icon disappears. 2nd time I click it, 75% disappears. 3rd time, it's gone. Once it's gone, you can't click on it anymore. you can only activate the start menu by using the keyboard. A reboot solves this, as does undocking and redocking my external monitor. This process only seems to mess up the clam shell icon itself, but the actual start menu remains usable when I use the Windows key.

Version 4.2.5. XML attached. Task bar is not set to auto hide

RedStone builds are not yet supported as of Feb 2016.
