I have version 4.2.3 working fine, however, when I try and access metro apps from the Classic Shell menu it resets Windows Explorer. It flashes, then I have to wait a moment for Explorer to reset, then everything is fine again. It started doing this after a recent Windows update. I have also tried to reinstall the software, but the issue is persistent.

Yes one of the Windows 10 updates to the apps caused it to crash. Until the next release of Classic Shell is out very soon, try this patch: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4822. Note that it is only for Classic Shell 4.2.3 and 64-bit Windows 10. The next version will incorporate this fix.
