Hello,

is there any chance you could make the "Show desktop" button visible in Windows 8 / 8.1 via Classic Shell?

I am referring to the rectangular button at the outside of the taskbar, next to the notification/date/time area, this one:

http://content.gcflearnfree.org/topics/ ... uttonB.jpg

As shown in the picture above, that button was visible in Windows 7.

In Windows 8 / 8.1 it's still there, but it's much thinner/smaller than in Windows 7 and it's also... invisible (well, it's briefly visible when clicking on it, but invisible for the rest of the time).

So, can you make it visible via Classic Shell? And, if possible, also allow to adjust the size of the button?

Visibility would be much more important than size though IMHO.

It would be much appreciated.

Regards

No, Classic Shell does not mess with the taskbar. It is a task more suited for tools like 7+ Taskbar Tweaker or Display Fusion.

7+ Taskbar Tweaker already lets you adjust its size: http://winaero.com/blog/customization-f ... r-tweaker/ (show_desktop_button_size parameter in Advanced Options).

Thx.

I went ahead and posted a feature request for 7+ Taskbar Tweaker, see:

I think you would need a visual style (theme) to make it visible. That would require installing UxStyle first and then some visual style from Deviantart which has the button visible.

Such as this one: http://xxinightxx.deviantart.com/art/Aero-8-1-Windows-8-1-413881040 or this one: http://froggz19.deviantart.com/art/8-Plus-for-Windows-8-1-402231766

This is what I did and it works fine:

Take that shortcut and put it on your taskbar.

Yes the Win 7 Desktop button was a problem with being at the far right of the screen. Why not implement the Vista Desktop shortcut on the Taskbar as part of the Classic Shell options? OR is there a way to do this that I am not aware of?

I am going to try this - Did Win 8.1 remove the "Show Desktop" shortcut in the "Quick Launch" toolbar or Classic Shell (combination of both?

I dont even have a Quick Launch toolbar? Or was that gone as well?

Need it now as I'm using an IBM/ UltraNav keyboard without a "Win" key so Win M is not doable.

Update:

Got it back! Dang!

Without quick launch you can create a button and pin it to the Taskbar. See how to add the Show Desktop button next to Start in Windows 10: http://winaero.com/blog/add-the-show-de ... indows-10/
