Hello,

I wondered if we could use the mouse buttons to do 2 things:

1) I would like to invoke the menu with the XButton1 of the mouse... (or close it if it is already open) (I said that I don't want to remap my mouse)

2) Middle click on a item to launch it and prevent the menu closing (like shift+Left click)

When you work with lot of apps and have to often quickly launch or close apps, it could be better to have those keys combination

optional and already asked ps: (Middle click to close apps on taskbar) :-)

... I've supposed this has been asked many times before.. but after some research I don't found anything

What wrong with my question ?

It is possible to implement a native function to toggle open/close the menu with my xbutton1 mouse ?

Ps: indeed support the project does not give me the right to demand an answer, but I still hope a response ;)

Nothing wrong with the question. However I don't want to add any more ways to activate the menu. There are 8 already! Maybe you can configure the xbutton to generate a keystroke like "Ctrl+Alt+Q", and then set that same key combination as a hotkey for the start menu.

maybe you need to make the controls page more robust/dynamic?

Each item would have the following 4 options:

Open:(dropdown list with the following options)
Start Menu
Start Menu on desktop
Metro Screen
Metro Screen in metro app
Show Desktop in metro app

None

Event: (The user is prompted to enter the mouse/key combination, and the program listens for the next 5 seconds, Or until a keystroke has been recorded)

Repeat to cancel:(a checkbox that makes repeating the hotkey, undo the option. IE if the user left clicks the start button to open the start menu, then left clicking the start button again will close the menu, otherwise it does nothing)

Delete Setting: a button to remove the item

Here's an ascii mockup:

Open [Start Menu] with (Left Click). Repeat to Cancel [X] {Delete}
Open [Start Screen] with (Shift+Left Click). Repeat to Cancel [X] {Delete}
Open [None] with (Press to record action). Repeat to Cancel [ ] {Delete}
Open [None] with (Press to record action). Repeat to Cancel [ ] {Delete}

{New Item}

@Joefango, well I know that you said you didn't want to remap your mouse but you might find the program X-Mouse Button Control useful to do what you want (http://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/XMou ... ontrol.htm) because it allows application or window specific mappings, which means an application or window can use the mouse buttons differently from another - it's not a global mapping. You can use the cmd line: "C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\ClassicStartMenu.exe" -toggle to open the Start Menu using X Mouse Button Control when using a specific layer in XMBC.

There is also 7+ Taskbar Tweaker (http://rammichael.com/7-taskbar-tweaker) which allows middle click on the taskbar to close programs.
