I have a new Lenovo Twist, on which I just installed Classic Shell Start Menu 3.6.8. On my desktop I have created shortcuts to Computer and the C: drive. I have tried to drag-and-drop these shortcuts onto the Start button, but Start will not take them.

Is there a solution to this?

Thanks,

Joe

When you hover over the button, does the start menu not open, or does it open but you can't drop the shortcut there?
Also, what version of Windows are you using?

If I simply hover the mouse over the Start button, the menu does not pop up. I must click, then it pops up.

If I try to drop a shortcut on the Start button, the menu pops up but I get a "not allowed" icon (circle with a line through it).

I am using Windows 8 Pro.

Thanks,

Joe

That's not how it works. You have to drag the shortcut over the start menu, wait a bit for the menu to open, then drop inside the menu.
How much you have to wait depends on the settings. If the menu doesn't open, you can press the Win key while you are dragging.

what would cause the start menu not to open to require the Windows key to be pressed? This happened to me too.
