I have installed classic shell om a few Windows Server 2012 machines but for some reason the start menu does not show up. It is present in the configuration, yet remains unavailable in the actual menu. How can I fix this?

Are you directly logged in, or through remote session? If you are logged in remotely, then you need to enable the setting "Show Shutdown during remote sessions" from the Special Items tab.

I am a Windows enthusiast and helped a little with Classic Shell's testing and usability/UX feedback.

Thanks. I was logged in via remote session. Enabling the setting you mentioned resolved my problem. Windows Server 2012 is almost usable now... (it really isn't usable without Classic Shell).
