When I open IE from the Programs menu it immediately opens then crashes. Have to go to Task Manager to shut down IE to get out of continuous pop-up about IE has stopped working. Has this been reported before?? Using IE 10.

No, it hasn't. Does the crash go away after disabling Classic IE?

I haven't disabled original IE. I stop it in Task Manager when it gets into this continuous warning loop though. If I completely disable the original IE won't that disable Classic Shell IE also?

Classic IE is just an addin for IE. To disable it, from Control Panel, open Internet Options -> Programs tab -> Manage Add-ons -> and disable the Classic Shell related addons. Then try if IE opens. If it still crashes, then the Classic Shell IE addin is not responsible for the crash.

It actually crashes worse with Classic IE disabled. If I enable Classic IE I can still open IE. But as soon as I go to another link I get the IE has stopped working warning. If I close the warning I am actually at the new link I clicked on and it works OK. But every time I go to a new link I get the IE has stopped working warning. Once I close that everything is OK until the next link I click on.
If I disable Classic IE in the Internet Options > Programs > Add-ons window IE crashes as soon as I open it.
What in the world is causing this???

Well it actually crahes IE either way. When I first installed Classic Shell everyhing worked fine. This was a couple of days ago. Do you think uninstalling it and re-installing it would fix this?

I have a link on my desktop that goes directly to Google search and it works fine. It's the IE link from the Programs menu that crashes.
Weird!

I uninstalled Classic Shell and problem with IE on start menu was still there so I guess the link is damaged. How I don't know. IE works fine if I get to it from my Google Icon on the Desktop.
Trying out Start Button For Windows 8 http://windows8startbutton.com/
right now. Seems to work pretty good too.
I'll decide later which I will leave on my computer.

Btw, just FYI, Windows 8 Start Button is based on Classic Shell since its source code is openly available. It's EULA states that: http://windows8startbutton.com/terms_of_use.php
