I'd like to know where and how CS picks up the Apps list. For example I know the programs list for all users is at C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

I'm experimenting with Toolbars for the day when CS no longer runs in Windows 10. I've made a cascading Toolbar which points to Programs as above and I'd like to do the same for the Apps list.

[Where does CS Get the Apps List From?]

I have a feeling it's not as easy as a simple folder location or shell command.

Looking at TenForums, Brink has an App Commands list for windows 10

https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/781 ... -10-a.html

but I don't see anywhere to get them all in a folder.
One way is to make a desktop shortcut for every App using CSM, put them all in a folder, and use the taskbar toolbar menu.
It would not update though.

Using "shell:Application Shortcuts" toolbar folder does not open them or show icons.

Using "shell:AppsFolder" or "shell:::{4234d49b-0245-4df3-b780-3893943456e1}" in Run
shows a weird 32/64 bit/apps combination that is missing lots.

I think the only way to get what you want is for a coder to help you out, even though it is not a bug.
thx_4_the_hard_wk is asking people to head on over to Github. see his links below:

I don't know anything about coding, but I did look at Ivo's folders a little bit from Github.
Classic-Shell-master\ClassicShellSrc\ClassicStartMenu\ClassicStartMenuDLL
I opened "MetroLinkManager.cpp" with notepad.
Ivo references shell:::{4234d49b-0245-4df3-b780-3893943456e1} in there, and I see text with Metro apps and such.
That is all I can understand. Maybe you can figure it out.

Let us hope we don't have to use the toolbar menu in the first place.
If MS does update with a CSM crippling public release in future, looks like only the coders could help us. :)

This reminds me of when I first got Windows 8 without the start menu.

Every Windows fan site came out with ways on how to turn the toolbar into a programs start menu.
They sucked because the programs were split up into two folders.
There was only one site that showed the combined shell command for merging the
all user programs and personal user programs together. I don't have that info anymore.
I deleted it years ago.
