I have some issues with shortcuts that should not be displayed in the startmenu.
I configured a redirected startmenu from Windows. The startmenu folder points to a share.
On that share we create folders with application shortcuts. Theses shortcuts are secured by permissions (the “users” group has been removed and there are either explicit user names or other groups for users).
E.g. a folder called MyApps
Inside there are 3 shortcuts
- UserGui.lnk
- AdminConsole.lnk
- Help.lnk

The users group has been removed from tha AdminConsol.lnk so that only members of the Administrator group can launch this application.
The Windows startmenu (no matter which version) does not display this shortcut when the user does not have the granted access to it.
The classic startmenu however, displays always the shortcuts. For a user with no access, it displays a white sheet icon with the shortcut name. As the user has no permission on the shortcut, he can not start the application, so it should not make sense to display it.
I wonder if there is an option to hide shortcuts for which users do not have read/execute permissions, like it is done automatically with the Windows Startmenu?
I did not find anything in the GPO settings.
