Have server 2012r2 and tested the GPOs so that the policies don't apply to my admin account but they do to my test user account.. Everything is good
there. I downloaded the 4.2.5c version (the one that site said was stable) and loaded it on my server. I extracted GPOs and added them into my store
and they show up on all machines where GP editor resides plus my local machine... We are all good there.. I set up my test machine and it seems like
none of the policies stick... I tried what I read that you get the machine the way you want it to look and then go to that registry and copy (in my case)
menuitems1 and paste that into Group policy (in the proper section, can't have an empty line at the end because it won't let you save) and save apply
reboot the server and I don't expect the settings be working on my admin account but it doesn't work for my test account either... It defaults right back
to like I never made a change... I go to look at the registry of the server computer again and the settings are all gone. AGAIN, I am having no problems
with the Microsoft policies..... They are working as expected.... policies are not applied to admin account but are applied to test user (for instance taking away
sound icon in task bar, etc etc.) Again the policies are placed in my domain store and show up on all pertinent machines... Anyone have suggestions or
point me to a thread where this might have been discussed? TIA.....
At first I tried putting them into the User section of Group Policy and it didn't work, so I just tried the computer section of Group policy and
still the same behavior. For classicmenu with one column, can you set it through the menu items section or do you have to go through each step
individually? I read that for Win7 you have to use the menuitem way, so is the reverse true and you have to go item by item? Also could I be stepping
on what I am doing with different policies within the classic start menu section? This is really frustrating.... I also tried to look for a tutorial to no avail...
Anyone, any thoughts?

Not sure what I did, but it is now working... and it is working pretty well... I have one kind of petty issue.... I have everything built out the way I want it, but on the side
where it says Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard the Standard gets cut off... I don't really want to add anymore icons and I already put 5 lines in there.... Any ideas
how to make the full standard show up so it looks nice? I attached a screen shot.... Any ideas on this?

You have 3 options:
Shorten the text - you can type new text in the "Menu caption" setting in the Menu Look tab, or use the GPO for "Menu caption"
Increase the size of the menu by adding more items
Reduce the font by editing the skin: http://www.classicshell.net/tutorials/skintutorial.html

Delete or rename the ClassicShell.chm file.
