Hi, everyone!

I really like Classic Shell, but I'd really love if somebody could make an skin like this from StartIsBack (with right pane glyphs, circular user image frame, All Programs glyph, submenus arrows, etc.). I think is the perfect skin for Windows 10+Classic Start Menu:

I'd make it myself, but I'm lacking the time and the skills right now.

Best regards.

The right pane 'gylphs' aren't part of the skin, but rather a set of icons.. They might be rip-able from startisback or you could find similar ones online (but its not something that your going to find a matching icon for every program out there...) Start with a list of everything you want in your right column... (without a list, no-one is going to know which icons to make)

The arrows are just about the only thing mentioned that would be part of a skin (and they wouldn't be too hard to change)

Note: this doesn't mean your request will be fulfilled, just stating without the above it would be impossible to fulfill..

The latest version 4.2.4 supports a mask for the user image so you can get a circular picture, with or without a frame.

The Windows 7 style of CSM needs the option to uncheck "No icons in second column".

Well, the icons I'd want in the right column would be for all of the default items and commands available in the Customize Start Menu tab of the Settings dialog (except for any customized items, of course).

I think that many, if not all, of the icons can be found in the new Segoe MDL2 Assets font included in Windows 10 (http://modernicons.io/segoe-mdl2/cheatsheet/):

Ehehe...

Here you go: http://www.mediafire.com/download/d2ac2ic9wq27ihb/StartIsShellButton.zip

I apologize for the user picture, I still can't seem to get the hang of making those user image masks >.<

Also, to anyone wondering, the files in the background end in glass, not ass :lol:

Hello Splitwirez.

Played a little with the round picture.
I cropped one of your bitmaps, and made it black.
Still could not make the grey frame show up,
but at least there is a round user picture.

We are only fishing, as we don't know all the rules. :)

This is the text, I used below:

[USER_IMAGE]
User_mask=40
User_image_size=56
User_frame_position=36
;User_image_offset=10,10 ?????
User_bitmap_outside=1

Maybe you can ask Ivo to update the skinning toot.
Gotta go. Bye.

My brain just woke me up, to remind me about the version I changed.

Change the text from

Version=2

to

Version=3

Goodnight

Circle frame around picture. RevC
This is well and truly my last attempt at the frame.
One of the images is 64 pixels, the other is 56 pixels.

I think I got it now. Mind you, it really was like fishing. A few times I had it, then it got away when reset.
Seems stable now. I will let you tweak it more to your taste.

Replace bitmap with newer 40,41.

[USER_IMAGE]

Version=3

User_bitmap=40
User_mask=41
User_image_size=56
User_frame_position=36
User_image_offset=4,4
User_bitmap_outside=1

Second EDIT

Hi Splitwirez.

I made a slightly bigger one to match Tihiy's original.
I didn't make any for higher dots per inch.

Replace the two bitmaps

Change text to:

[USER_IMAGE]
User_bitmap=40
User_mask=41
User_image_size=60
User_frame_position=36
User_image_offset=2,2
User_bitmap_outside=1

Back to you.
One more thing.
The arrows on the left column are too light to see.:)

PS
I'm not trying to take over your project.
Just helping out.
I will be silent now.

I love the wireframe icons that Startisback has and would like them for classic shell in 7 skin. Is there any chance it will happen? :)

Hi JustNiz.
Post your request in the Feature Requests Development section, for it to be noticed better, by the master IVO. :)

I tried to add those glyph font icons ("Segoe MDL2 Assets")into mrbumpy409 black Metro skin,
with screenshots.
It is not customizable like Startisback, and is always, well blackish! Skin menu bitmaps/text,
would have to be modded for proper glass color.

Here are links to the black skin. Maybe someone can convert to glass like Van SN did with his "Metro Glass" skin? ;)

Direct download Metro-Win10-Black-Glyphs-U-P-O.zip skin http://www.classicshell.net/forum/downl ... hp?id=4623

Well it's not the same exactly but instead of using icons, if you use Unicode text symbols, you can have some glyphs in Windows 7-style, 2nd column as well.

If in the future, Ivo can add support for color fonts which are supported using DirectWrite on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, we can have full color emojis. Then fonts like Segoe UI Symbol or Segoe UI Emoji can be used.

Here are the glyphs for easy copy-pasting if anyone wants to use them in the Classic Start Menu:

Note: These glyphs will display properly on Windows 7 and up with the Segoe UI Symbol font present. You might want to change the font used in your skin(s) to Segoe UI Symbol. The rest of the non-glyph characters should display the same as regular Segoe UI.

That's great that you figured it out, Gaurav.
Do you think you could have a couple pictures,
to show everyone how easy it is to put in the label area of Customize Start Menu tab.

Here are simple step-by-step instructions:

1. Right click the Start button and click Settings.
2. Check "Show all settings" at the top of the Settings window.
3. Go to Customize Start Menu tab.
4. Download the file attached in the post above called Glyphs.txt. Open it.

5. In the text file, select the glyph you want to insert and press Ctrl+C to copy it.
6. Switch back to Start Menu Settings and double click the *icon* of the item whose glyph you copied. This will open the "Edit Menu Item" dialog.
7. Erase the contents of the "Label" text field and then press Ctrl+V to paste the glyph. Then type the name of the item after the glyph in the language of your choice.
8. Click OK everywhere to save Settings.
9. Repeat steps 1-9 and you will have a Start Menu 2nd column with Windows 10-like icon design.

Note: These glyphs will display properly on Windows 7 and up with the Segoe UI Symbol font present. You might want to change the font used in your skin(s) to Segoe UI Symbol. The rest of the non-glyph characters should display the same as regular Segoe UI.

Is that a custom visual style on 8.1?

Yes, it's the Windows 8 Release Preview style. I do create styles for 8.1, but that's not one of mine.
