The upgrade to WIN 10 left some programs behind. Classic shell being one of them.
I soon tired of Win 10 and rolled back to Win 8.1, and downloaded a newer version of Classic Shell but it will not install. The error message is that I need to uninstall and reinstall.
Upon uninstall I get an error message saying that I need to "enter an alternative path to a folder containing the installation package 'ClassicShellSetup64_4_0_6msi' in the box below".
The install package is located in the downloads Folder, but will not install. A search on my computer does not find the package I mentioned above. 'ClassicShellSetup64_4_0_6msi'
How can I get ClassicShell to install?
Thank you!

Try running the installer directly and choose the Remove option. If that doesn't work, let me know and we can try few other things.

You will have to run the installer of the version that you have installed, that is, 4.0.6. The English installer for Classic Shell 4.0.6 is here: http://www.oldfoss.com/Classic-Shell/do ... _4_0_6.exe

Thanks for your prompt reply!
I have been running in circles for at least 2 hours trying to figure out how to remove what was left of Classic Shell from the add/remove utility in windows. After using the link you posted it appears that everything is resolved. It must have overwritten the remaining files, and is working as it should.
Just one other question, does the version you posted have the option to choose Windows XP look? or just WIN 7?
Thanks again!

Open Classic Start Menu settings. Windows XP look can be obtained by first switching to the "Classic with two columns" style from the "Start Menu style" tab, and then going to the Skin tab and selecting the "Windows XP Luna" skin.
