I am wondering if there is a way to STOP recently opened programs from showing up at the top of the classic start menu? I am annoyed by them adding up and seeing the numbers near them. Such as, "1 Camera" etc. Any help is much appreciated.

Look at the options in the Main Menu tab in the settings. You can choose between recent programs, frequent programs or neither. You can also choose to have the numbers or not. BTW the numbers are off by default. You must have enabled them.
