Hello,

I just tried the 4.2.0 beta on Windows 10 TP (because it says it has improved Win10 support), and found that the dotted lines are not there for Windows Explorer with the Navigation pane style set to "Windows XP Simple". I guess there is an issue with that? A previous version showed the dotted lines, but with corrupted folder icons as a result, see here:

I guess it was something other than "Windows XP Simple", but I don't remember the setting and I don't have any Win7 machine with Classic Shell to check. No corruption with 4.2.0, but also no dotted lines.

Will the lines make a return, or is this not possible on Win10? Or maybe I am doing something wrong, and forgot some setting or so?

Thanks!

Yes, the settings was removed because it is incompatible with Windows 10. Since Win 10 is still a technical preview, it is not yet known if the final version will work.

It is not compatible with Windows 10 with the default tree item spacing. If you set the "tree item spacing" to 4 or higher, the icons don't get corrupted in 'Windows XP Classic' style.

According to Ivo (the developer), "It is something that can't be depended on. The metrics in the tree depend on many external factors – DPI, text size, icon size. The root cause of the problem is that for some reason Windows 10 sets the line height to be 8 pixels and then uses 3 lines to represent each item. In that mode the tree control can’t correctly draw the icon, so Explorer draws it manually. However that interferes with the way the control draws its lines."
