I am setting up a Windows 2012R2 RDS (session based) server for a new client that wants the Windows 7 style start menu. I am setting this up using the GPO policies.
The start menu needs to be customized so that things like control panel, run, and some of the other default items are not listed. I tried to setup the classic start menu settings and then checking the registry to see what the string should look like (as recommended in the GPO policy), but when I go to the registry (HKCU\Software\IvoSoft\ClassicStartMenu\Settings) there are no menu items/string to see. The only thing that I can see are the skin customizations. Is there a list of all menu items or example strings that I could use to create my own?

When you customize the menu items for the Win7 style, they should show up as a new value named "MenuItems7" in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IvoSoft\ClassicStartMenu\Settings.
Are you sure that a) you indeed have customized the items (hiding or deleting an item will do that), and b) you are looking in the right place in the registry?
