Hi!

First for the obligate thank you: Classic Shell is of such importance to me, i think without it I wouldn't be using Windows anymore!
No joking, and that's especially important to me, because my aged notebook doesn't like linux drivers at all.

So, as Classic Shell obviously is made for making Windows a computer operating system again instead of a merely done app launcher, I think it could be a good idea, to include an option for adding the old school quick launch area in a simple way, instead of having to fiddle around with multiple steps for getting it back.

That combined launching and running task area is just a horrible mess without any logical reason compensating for losing the chance of launching programs by simple and fast intuition instead of having to search for the right Icon anytime you want to start something really quick.

This could be done by simply activating a checkbox in CS Options, with the functionality of adding the quick launch link, and additionally setting the link's parameters like: no title, no text, small icons, moving to the most left position and what else is needed to resemble the classic Quick Launch. Maybe it could also remove the default pinned Icons from Taskbar.

This would save some minutes instead of having to bother with these details at each windows installation over and over, and in my opinion is a perfect fit for the meaning of Classic Shell.

Thank you for attention :)

regards

ElMariachi

Classic Shell is not a utility for configuring Windows, so such feature is not a good fit. Also Windows makes it particularly difficult to do this kind of things on the premise that such customizations are only reserved for the user and programs should not be messing with it.

Hi!

I don't realy understand. Do you mean that it isn't possible to do this automatically in a proper way?
I thought this could be done by using a .reg file on currently logged in user's hive. Wouldn't this be sufficient?

Classic Shell is designed to implement new features, not to help you configure the existing Windows features. I also don't think it is as simple as manipulating the registry. If it was, then why not just create a .reg file and execute it? That's like one click.

I was going to request this feature myself, but thought I'd search first. Except, my request is to simply add "Quick Launch" to the taskbar toolbar menu. I would even be ok with it being called "Classic Quick Launch". This way, a user could enable the toolbar if they wish.

Microsoft removed the "Quick Launch" deskband as of Windows 7 and is still removed in Windows 8, so this is not currently a Windows "feature".
