I thought maybe I wasn't opening it enough for it to show up, but I finally got tired of wondering and tried opening it a bunch in a row and it never showed up. I even reset the list and ran it first, it still wouldn't show up (yet calculator and everything else does). I checked where the shortcut is located and even moved it and still nothing. So now I'm here asking about it. :)

If a program is pinned to the start menu or the taskbar it won't show in the frequent list.

OK. Let's try something else.
Open regedit and go to HKCU\Software\IvoSoft\ClassicStartMenu\Settings
Create a new DWORD value named "LogLevel" and set it to 4.
Log off, log in.
Open and close the start menu.
Go to the folder "%APPDATA%\ClassicShell" and look for a file named StartMenuLog.txt.
Attach the file here.

Doesn't seem like the system's tracking data contains any entries for Chrome.
For this to work there must be a shortcut to Chrome in your start menu and you have to run it at least once. Running it only from the desktop or other places doesn't count.

I know I need to run it from the start menu and that's the only place I run it from. It always showed up fine in Windows 7, with the "real" start menu. I wonder what's changed in 8 that there wouldn't be any tracking data for it.

Google Chrome never shows up in the Windows UserAssist data (this is either a bug in Chrome or maybe Microsoft Windows developers hate Chrome so much that they blacklisted and hardblocked it in the MFU list :D). UserAssist is the mechanism used for the Frequent Programs list maintained by Windows. Chrome just doesn't show up there despite how many times you run it.

Actually it works for me. I'm on Windows 7, and I have Chrome 32.0.1700.102m
It may behave differently on Windows 8 or with newer/older versions of Chrome.

Yes on some installations, I have seen it work but on others, it never shows up in UserAssist. Maybe how its installed affects it - EXE or MSI installer, per user or All Users and beta/stable channel?
