I have a few icons start 'disappearing' from the system tray recently. All checks find the programs actually up & running but no icon displayed in the tray. Suspecting Classic Shell I uninstalled it. Icons now are displayed. Might be wrong but it looks like a little bug to me. Not always consistent but when it happens a right pain. Any ideas. I prefer Classic Shell to Mr Microsoft's versions in Win 7, 8 & 8.1

Is it possible that the icons are hidden by Explorer? Do you see a small triangle in the tray area that you can click?
If that's not it, what happens if you restart the Explorer process?

I would like to report the same issue

They are not just hidden, they simply don't show up even when running

It seems that when my computer starts and it starts Classic Shell, from then on any icons in the taskbar that have not shown up before Classic Shell started somehow get suppressed. As a test I stopped Classic Shell from starting when Windows started and all icons from then on showed up. So for now my work around is to have Classic Shell on a delay when starting up.

I'd really like to see a fix for this. I went through the trouble of wiping and reloading Windows to fix the issue when it ended up being this all along. So I'm not impressed

So answer these questions please:
Does this happen for arbitrary programs or specific ones? Can you give an example of a program that always does this?
What happens if you start the program manually after Classic Shell? Do you see the icon then?
What version of Windows and Classic Shell do you use?

1, The programs seem to be random, it could be Skype or the system volume control. It's whatever is not loaded into the system tray before Classic Shell is started

2, When I close and restart these programs the icons show just fine

3. Windows 7 64-Bit, Classic Shell 4.0.2

I confirm the same bug. In my case it's the tray icons of:
flux,
two autohotkey scripts,
xkeymacs,
xmouse,
action center (at times).

In addition, if I choose to replace the Start Menu icon, the language toolbar is messed up (none of the languages I have by default appears) and tray icons for volume and battery are also missing (besides the ones listed above).

For the moment I've disabled the CS Start Menu to solve the issue.

Note: this problem has appeared after updating to CS4, I've never encountered it in CS3

OS: Windows 7 Pro 32bit
CS: 4.0.2

Thank you for your help and for CS!
