Does "fixing" this element will also require modifying system files:

Or it is possible for Classic Shell to correct this unnecessary empty space ?

I don't see a difference between Computer and other folders. You seem to be using some additional software for adding tabs. Maybe it is causing the difference.

as far as i can tell hees using QTTabs bar, which i also have installed, (though he may have the other variation)
i dont see that extra space when i open my computer, with the navigation pane removed and in the same view, so it might be something else, maybe the theme..

That is very strange because i just install fresh Win 7 and indeed i don't have such problem. It's somehow related to the installation of QTTabBar because those were only things that i installed on my normal PC and virtual machine. Thx anyway for feedback.

so the problem is with a fresh install, or was it on your old install?

also was the problem on a different theme? one that comes bundled with windows, or did you have to download it?

Problem was at my old install and i think it was related to setup of my old install. Nothing broken in new installation.
