I just bought a Lenovo laptop running Win 8. I downloaded Classic shell IE. As of now when I log on to the laptop I'm faced with the "charms". I like the classic sceen,. Did I make a mistake when I downloaded it? Ijust don't like those charms. I also deleted Windows 10 after I tried it. Can you help me? pluto :?: |

from what you describe; 2 things Firstly did you install the start menu component or just the IE component (IE is classic shell there after you go into the desktop?) If-so; then all you need to do is: Quote: To configureWindows 8.1to boot to the desktop, first launch the Desktop from the StartScreen. Next, right-click on an empty portion of the Taskbar and choose “Properties.” In the Taskbar Properties window, click the “Navigation” tab and check the box “Go to the desktop instead of Start when I sign in.”

I think I'll reinstall it because when I click on the shell, after following the instructions you sent me, I go to the charms. Can you give me directions so I don't mess it up again...Thank you or the help. pluto |

>when you click on the shell No that sounds like it was installed fine because the start button is there It seems that somehow youve set a few of the options wrong Right click on the button (or shift+right click depending on your settings) and select settings then at the top corner check 'show all settings' and select the controls tab. Everything you need should be there |
