Hi Forum, File manager (Windows Explorer) closes when, for exmaple, a USB flash drive is removed if the focus was on that drive I do understand that this is by intent but this hasn't always been the case for earlier versions of Windows where instead the focus would have moved up However, I do recall that this was 'fixed' (at least for Windows 7) by an earlier version of Classic Shell but doesn't appear to now be working for 8.1 & 4.2.0 Am I missing something such as a setting or is it now not possible to 'fix' this behaviour in later versions of windows (e.g. such as with the 'copy & replace' dialogue change)? |

This was always the behavior since Windows 7. Classic Shell does nothing to change this. I don't know if it is even possible. |

Windows XP was the last release to move the focus up and not close Explorer. |

Thank you all for your replies, is this something that can't easily be done for Win 7 & 8? |

Yes, it is up to Microsoft to fix it. I don't think it can be prevented from closing. |

Thanks GauravK, I guess I'll just resort to changing the focus prior to removing/ejecting the media to stop it closing |
