I seem to have switched off the search box some time ago and I can't find any way to make it come back. I don't care whether it's in a bar up at the top near the path bar or in a panel on the left (which used to be called something like 'Commonly Used Tasks' I think??? Maybe that was in XP?) Anyway I almost never use Windows Explorer since I use a third-party file manager 99.99% of the time but right now I do need to do a search in Windows Explorer. Under CE Settings > Title Bar > Hide Search Box, it is UNCHECKED. |

Was that option ever checked before? Try restarting to see of the search box comes back. If not, see if uninstalling Classic Shell will have any effect. If even that doesn't solve the problem, then it must be unrelated to the software. Maybe you have some other program with similar functionality. |
