Post subject: | Menu Bar Not Showing | ||
Hi. I am having an issue with the 'Menu Bar' not showing, when I say Menu Bar I mean the thing which says : File, Edit, View, Tools, Etc I've attached a picture below : ![]() Now I believe I first had this when I installed Classic Shell, but I no longer seem to have it? I have attached a Screenshot of my Explorer - as you can see I get all the icons, which I can change, but I don't get the Menu Bar. I have tried the following : 1) Re installing and Repairing 2) Made sure it is Enabled on IE 3) Made sure third party applications are enabled So what could the issue be? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Many Thanks, James

In Windows 8, the menu bar has been removed and replaced by the Ribbon UI except for a few folders like Control Panel. To disable the Ribbon UI and get back the menu bar, you can use OldNewExplorer: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/170375-oldnewexplorer-make-your-81-explorer-work-like-win78-one/ Disclaimer: Any third party apps recommended in the Classic Shell forum are not our responsibility. Thanks for that. That looks like a different menu to what I want though? I would like the following circled bit : ![]() Rather than the bit below, like this : ![]() Is it still what I want? Many Thanks James |

OldNewExplorer has a setting to disable the Ribbon as shown in this article: http://winaero.com/blog/oldnewexplorer- ... artisback/ The setting is called "Use command bar instead of Ribbon". With that turned on, the Ribbon gets disabled and the menu bar and command bar return as they were in Windows 7.
