Hi all,
although I have updated to 4.1.0 (from 4.0.6) I still experience the following strange behaviour in Windows explorer of Win7 with Classic Shell, which does NOT appear without Classic Shell (I compared that with my Win7 Laptop without Classic Shell):
1) When I select a folder on the left side of the Explorer with a single mouse click, it will be highlighted as usual with blue background colour.
2) Now I select a file within that folder on the right side of the Explorer, again with a single mouse click: the file will now be highlighted (still as usual) with blue background colour, the folder on the left side will be highlighted (as usual as well) with grey background colour, which means it is "deselected".
3a) With an Explorer tweaked with Classic Shell you can experience the following: now single-click again the folder on the left side. What happens? Both the folder AND the file are highligted with blue, which seems to show that both of them are selected. Of course the last clicked one is selected in fact (the folder, not the file), but you cannot really see this anymore (please see attached screenshot).
3b) With a "native" Explorer (without Classic Shell) the experience is a bit different and less confusing: when you single-click the folder again on the left side (after steps 1 and 2) ONLY the folder will be highlighted with blue, the file on the right side will be unselected, which is of course correct, because you cannot select both a folder and a file...
The problem which now happened to me the 4th time already today: because of the fact that I couldn't really see what really is selected (ok, and also because I am used to delete files definitely with Shift+Del) I deleted a complete folder unintentionally, instead of just one selected file!!! Aaarghhh...
And believe me, if this happens, a file recovery tool can help you only up to about 70%, the rest is completely gone, including also content you paid real money for...

Why does Classic Shell "allow" (or support?) a behaviour like this, where both a folder and a file appear to be "selected", although (logically) only one of them could be able to be selected?
In fact only one of them IS in fact selected (the folder, not the file), but both visually appear to be selected...
This behaviour happens on two of my PCs where I have installed Classic Shell, but not on the third one without Classic Shell (all with Win 7).
Could anybody confirm that strange behaviour and show me a solution for this? I only want ONE object to be highlighted, the one which is also selected....
Thanks a lot to everybody,
cheers,
Michael
