Post subject:  Folder in left tree view does not keep position

Hello,

I am observing that the folder (containing many folders) does not keep its position when you double click on it and it subsequently drops down the folders under it - into view. If I use the arrow, it works fine, but if I double click on the folder it generally moves the folder I clicked on up. If the folder is near the top, then it actually stays in place, or the folder has a small amount of folders contained within it stays in place - which brings me to the issue. Regardless of the same user input (double clicking on the folder), the outcome is not consistent as the determining factors are hidden. This all leads to having to re-locate the folder within the panel that you were after to begin with.

It seems like something has changed to make this worse recently, but I could be wrong. Has something changed with the way Classic Shell is working with Windows 7? I realize there are limitations with what Windows has provided in the OS, I just cannot recall what those are specifically, so possibly that is what I am seeing.

Thank you,
TAdams

1) This is normal behavior of the system tree control. When you open a folder it will move up to reveal as many of the sub-folders as possible. It's been like that since Windows 95.

2) In Windows 7 there is a bug in Explorer that sometimes if you expand a folder or the first time it will move down to the bottom. If you are already scrolled all the way up, then this might give the appearance that the folder is not moving anywhere (when in fact it is supposed to move up to show the children).

Classic Shell contains a fix for bug #2 and makes the behavior always #1 consistently. If you don't like this, you can disable it by unchecking "Fix folder scrolling " in the Navigation Pane tab in the settings. For the record, the bug is fixed in Windows 8.

Fix folder scrolling is only supposed to fix this specific problem: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... ffbbd0e998
