Witout Classic Explorer the Windows Explorer (WINDOWS 7) reacts to the input of any letter key (A to Z) by jumping to the first file or folder starting with that letter. I am using this feature very often to navigate inside directories. Unfortunately this does not work if Classic Shell is active. In this case the keyboard input immediately is written into the search field which leads to an immediate search of this character in filenames or file contents. It does not help to hide the search box or to disable the Windows Search at all. In these cases there is simply no reaction on a keyboard input. Is there a way to get back the original behaviour of keyboard input for the purpose of easy navigation?

This is controlled by a Windows setting, not by Classic Explorer. You may have changed that setting. Open Folder Options from Control Panel -> View tab and change the very last setting on that tab called: "When typing into list view". It should be set to "Select the typed item in the view" and not to "Automatically type into the Search box".
