How do I get the simple classic menus back in Windows 8 File Explorer. I want the File, Edit, View, Tools, Help - just like it looks in Windows XP

It is not possible in Windows 8 to get classic menus without patching system files. A freeware app called Winaero Ribbon Disabler (http://winaero.com/comment.php?comment.news.20) disables the Ribbon UI and brings back the menus by patching a system file but it is completely unsupported. Use it at your own risk. Classic Shell is not responsible for changes from use of any third party software.

that picture is of classic shell ON windows 7, as such only the things with arrows pointing to them will be affected, and only if that specific feature is supported by your version of classic shell.

That said, I use the app posted and it works relatively well.
It automatically returns the command bar(the one with Organize in the linked picture), which you can be used to re-enable the menu bar (the one with file - edit - view- tools - help on it)

To enable the menu bar after using the above tool: go to orgranize>layout> and check the "Menu Bar" option

I've decided to give Winaero Ribbon Disabler a shot. Glad to have my old Menu Bar back. And so far, it doesn't SEEM like it has any kind of malware. >_>

No issue about malware. I know the developer of Winaero tools. They can be trusted.
