Having been forced by MS to upgrade to W10 Creators version, Classic Shell has ceased to work. The last time I did this I rolled back to a previous version of W10 and all was well. However, MS hase forced an upgrade on me, and rather that roll back again I thought that I would do a clean install of Classic Shell Ver 4.3.1 in the hope that this will resolve the problem.

It seems that I cannot just install over the top, and in trying to use Apps and Features to unload my current version, I get an error that says 'Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file' and refers to a path 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\msiexec.exe'. Sure enough, that path does not exist on my system, although the Classic Shell folder set does appear in 'C:\Program Files\Classic Shell'

Any suggestions on what I do now? The Control Panel seems to be confused about where the application is.

Please help - I really do not know what to do without Classic Shell

Apps & features page of Settings in Windows 10 is broken by design by Microsoft so many Windows Installer (MSI/msiexec) apps fail to uninstall. It is known to give this error message for many apps: Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file

The solution is to use Programs and Features from the classic Control Panel. Open Control Panel using Classic Start Menu or by running control.exe. Then you can uninstall it from Programs and Features.

If that also does not work, then you can use the Classic Shell Utility (http://www.mediafire.com/download/3uker ... tility.exe) to remove your existing version and reinstall the latest.
