Ho everyone. I'm new to this great utility to replace my XP Start Menu on Win 10. The Problem I have is it showing recently used programs like XP did.

I added a the 'Recent Programs' option above Programs but all it says is 'No Text' despite opening a closing a few programs to try this was working.

Will this only work for recent programs or frequently used ones 'based on recent history?

Also, if I can get it to work, is it possible to control how many of the most frequent or recent are listed here?

Thanks.

It will say <No Text> because the localized text for the words "Recent programs" is missing in Windows. Classic Shell uses Windows localizations.

To fix that, you can open Classic Start Menu Settings, go to Customize Start Menu tab. Double click "Recent programs" and type a Label e.g. "Recently used apps" instead of <No text>.

Also, there are two lists: Recent and Frequent. Recent is maintained by Classic Start Menu. You can switch between the two from "Main Menu" tab.

The Frequent list data is maintained by Windows. It requires turning on some Windows settings so the operating system starts collecting data about frequently used programs.

For Windows 10 Creators Update, there is a new setting under Settings -> Privacy: "Let Windows track app launches to improve start and search results". Turn it on.

Then go to Settings -> Personalization -> Start and turn on "Show most used apps". After turning it on, try launching a couple of programs and they should show up in the Frequent list.

Got this to work by enabling track recent apps and track favorite apps from the Windows Setting menu. Thanks.
