I'm using Win 7 Ultimate and CS 4.3.0. This is a new computer.

I like my Start Menu to look like the old Win 98 UI. I had Classic Shell all set up for about a month, and I wanted to change a setting. One of the features, I think Classic Start Menu, wasn't responding, so I reinstalled the program and rebooted.

I changed something in Classic Explorer or Start Menu, not sure what. If i knew it would cause problems, I would have written down each step. Then CS told me I would have to close explorer.exe to apply a new setting.

After that, I got the peculiar start menu entries in this image.

Looks like something didn't install correctly. Uninstall Classic Shell, reboot, then install again. The settings will be preserved.

For Win7, is one preferable to the other? I have 3.6.8 and 4.3.0.

I wish all those $ were money.

Does Documents only reflect My Documents? I'm not using it and I've set up my docs in another partition with a diff name.

For Windows 7, Classic Shell 4.3.0 is recommended. There are improvements for every version of Windows, it's not focused only on Windows 10.

I tried to install it "As Adminstrator" and I got an error message for most of the install files. There's no program there, and my Start Menu is all wrong. The right side list is on the left side and some commands are missing. I should have left it. The UAC has been driving me crazy and I have this puter only a month.

I went back to v3, "As Admin" got a partial install, some error messages, and C Start Menu.exe is empty.

The installer is not supposed to be run as administrator. The installer will auto-elevated when required.

I did that because I was getting partial or no install. Used Revo to uninstall, tried again. Now it's not installed at all.

I had the same issue yesterday with Libre Office, I was advised to turn on the hidden Admin temporarily, and I eventually I gave up on it. It's a know bug in Win7 or in Libre.

All 3 boxes of programs are shoved into the left box.

The guy in my club who built this puter had system restore turned off.
