I'm assuming this is a glitch with the latest release of Classic Start. I like to have 3 programs pinned to the top of the start menu: Notepad, Snipping Tool, and Change The Theme. Having them pinned makes accessing these programs much easier, and i do often open these programs. Without them pinned, i would need to search for them. Which the search in Classic Start is also quite slow, may just be my computer, but i'm not sure. Anyway, anytime i have 3 items or more pinned t the start menu, it becomes huge, nearly taking up the entire left side of my screen. And there is plenty of room left on the side of the menu. so i don't understand why this is happening, but it's really annoying.

I don't see anything wrong with the screenshot. It has the 3 pinned items and the 10 recent items. If you want to see fewer recent items, reduce the setting "Max recent programs" in the Main Menu tab.

You can reduce the left column's width using the Setting "Programs pane width". Look for this setting on the "Main Menu" tab in Classic Start Menu Settings. Or you can search for it using the box at the top of the Settings window.
