Hi. I am recovering from a Windows 10 computer crash and I've hardly slept or eaten for about 3 days now trying to get my computer up and running and to get ALL my programs re-installed. This time, this re-install is different! It starts as the Windows 10 menu and taskbar and I have to hit the Classic Shell clamshell I put on my desktop to convert my start menu and taskbar BACK to the Classic Windows, the one I love. I'm reading the PolicyDefinitions.rtf file right now, I keep going over and over it, but the ONLY thing I could do was unzip that one zipfile into the windows directory PolicyDefinitions and that was it! The rest of the stuff just isn't anywhere on my windows drive OR in my registry so I don't know what to do! If anyone can help...PLEASE HELP ME!! I'm really stuck here! Before the big crash, this never happened to me and I just can't figure out how to make it work so PLEASE, I'm BEGGING whoever, I really need some help with this!

You can download the latest installer from www.classicshell.net/downloads/latest and do a Repair installation/full uninstall and reinstall using it. If your Registry was preserved by Windows after the crash, your Classic Shell Settings will be preserved too.

If your desktop has tiles, you are most likely in tablet mode. Press Win+A and uncheck "Tablet mode" at the bottom.

Thanks for the help...I just tried the tablet mode thing and it wasn't in tablet mode but I tried your advice anyways...it was a clean install. I had to reinstall about 3 years of work. Luckily I had most of it backed up! I'm pretty much back to where I left off except one of my customizers is messing up so I'm going to try to uninstall tonight/reinstall when I get up type of thing and see if that works. I tweaked a few things in my registry where the run stuff is at startup so I hope that helps. It's just on this version on windows when you run msconfig, when you go to play with the start menu there's just a link that refers you back to the task manager which is VERY stingy! I wanted to move the classicmenu.exe up all the way to the top, but I did that in the registry. I backed up my reg just in case. This has never happened to me before, and now that they took the run from msconfig out that's really got my hands tide!!
