I am using Windows 8.1 with the Classic Shell. When I try to download from the internet, I get this message and am asked whether to save to a user folder. I am trying to download a program .exe file and would prefer to save it in the "program files" or "program files (x86)" folder, but cannot access those and get this "you don't have permission" message. I have "given myself permission" many times, as far as I can tell. Is this related to Classic Shell? Is there a way to change this so I have access? I have similar issues when attempting to access folders on other computers on this network, and many times worked through sharing and permissions steps, without ever completely resolving the problem. Thx. G |

You do not save files to Program Files. Only installers can do that. Download the exe to the desktop and run it to install the software. |
